Deer spotting at Charlecote

Bit of a misnomer the title as we didn't actually spot any deer!

However, yesterday we enjoyed this six mile walk in the Warwickshire countryside as part of our training for Kinder. The only problem is that Warwickshire isn't very hilly! Luckily we're off to the Lake District in a couple of weeks so I have an eight mile walk planned while we are there that should help.

Heer is the view from the highest (not very high at all) point on the walk:

And a stag beetle we spotted on the walk:

Rollright Stones

I was a bit surprised to see it's almost a month since I last posted. This work malarky really does get in the way of having fun doesn't it?! However, the good thing about being back at work is that I have been walking to work, so I've been averaging 12 miles a week.

We have booked to stay in a Youth Hostel in the Peak District at the end of August so that is when I hope to do Kinder Scout. As that is about two and a half months away I decided we'd better do some practice. So yesterday we did a five mile walk on the Warwickshire/Oxfordshire border that included a look at the Rollright Stones.

There are a number of stones ther not just the circle. Here are the Whispering Knights from our footpath

Here is the church at Little Rollright. Lovely building we would never have seen if we hadn't done the walk.

And yes we found some geocaches!
