In April 2014 I climbed Snowdon. In July 2014 I did a 20 mile charity hike in the Dark Peak.
On 29th August 2014 I was diagnosed with breast cancer.
Since then I have had a single mastectomy and 5 of 6 (at the time of writing) sessions of chemotherapy. My last chemo session is scheduled for the 3rd March 2015. I am now 2 stone heavier than I was this time last year and there are times when I am too tired even to walk to the end of my road.
This blog is not about the cancer or the treatment. This blog will chart my "Path to Recovery".
I am aiming to get fit again by doing what I enjoy, walking. My ultimate aim is to "do" Kinder Scout. I'm not setting a time limit as I have no idea how long it will take to regain my fitness. I may not even do it this year as the weather will also contribute to the decision regarding when we will try it. But do it I will.
I plan to start walking again two or three weeks after my last chemo. I will start by doing a mile circuit round my estate. When I'm confident with that then I will progress to short (2.5 mile) walks in the countryside and then slowly build up the walks. If possible I will do other gentle exercise as well to help shift some of the excess flab!
So that's this blog in a nutshell. Charting my progress as I get fit enough to do Kinder.
